Having a goal oriented mindset is amazing. It makes you believe that your dreams are within reach. Yet, what happens when you've been working towards a goal for years and haven't seen progress? How do you continue in a relationship that you realize isn't working? What happens when you act on faith, research, plan, then execute and have nothing to show for it?
Do you know when to call it quits?
As a goal getter, it's important to know that you cannot do everything. That doesn't mean that you're not capable of whatever you put your mind to, it means that you will burn yourself out trying to be the jack of all trades. You'll never be everything to everyone and you'll drive yourself into a state of frustration by constantly trying to change who you are to meet someone's perception of you.
It's okay to give up. (Gasp!) As long as you understand what was not working and make the effort to change, everything will work out in the long run. Change your process and modify your vision. Everything is not what it seems and it's okay to be honest with yourself when you realize that something is off.
When a business opportunity doesn't come through, your plans don't work out, or a relationship comes to an end, don't beat yourself up for what didn't happen.
